Jesus is the central figure in the Christian faith, and he is revered as the son of God, the savior of the world, and the one who brings salvation to all who believe in him. In addition to these roles, Jesus is also seen as a prophet, a priest, a king, and the savior of the world.
As a prophet, Jesus spoke the words of God and brought a message of hope, redemption, and salvation to the world. In Matthew 13:57, it says, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” This verse highlights the fact that Jesus was a prophet who was rejected and misunderstood by many, but who ultimately brought a message of hope and salvation to the world.
As a priest, Jesus offered himself as a sacrifice for the sins of the world and made it possible for believers to be reconciled with God. In Hebrews 9:11-14, it says, “But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially clean and on those who are not ceremonially clean cleansed them externally. In the same way, he offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, a perfect, unblemished lamb.” This verse highlights the importance of Jesus’ role as a priest and the way in which he offered himself as a sacrifice for the sins of the world.
As a king, Jesus is revered as the one who will reign over the world in righteousness and peace. In Revelation 19:16, it says, “On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” This verse highlights the fact that Jesus is the ultimate king, and that he will reign over the world with authority and power.
But ultimately, Jesus is most known and revered as the savior of the world. In John 3:16, it says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This verse highlights the love of God for the world and the way in which he sent his son Jesus to be the savior of the world. Through his death and resurrection, Jesus offers salvation to all who believe in him.
