Today’s students are surrounded by technology. From immersive virtual reality experiences to eye-tracking technology, classroom technology is transforming the way we learn and teach. These tools help educators adapt to the needs of the future student. Here are three trends that will shape classrooms of the future. While traditional classroom teaching methods are still an important part of education, digital tools are making learning more dynamic and engaging. Adaptive learning systems, such as Google Expeditions, are making traditional classroom teaching obsolete.

Automation and AI: Another trend that will shape education in the future is artificial intelligence (AI). The advent of AI has made it possible for teachers to get complete analytics on students’ academic performance and engagement. For instance, teachers can assign homework to the entire class and evaluate results online. AI-driven technologies can also detect students’ talents and tailor curriculum to them. One example of such technology is the app Duolingo. With just 35 hours of playing this online game, students can learn the equivalent of a whole semester of schooling.

Collaboration: Increasing student collaboration is another trend affecting the way students learn. The use of technology in classrooms will help students to cooperate and work with one another outside of school. Using smart boards and other technology, students will be more likely to share ideas and work on group projects. Teachers will be able to track contributions and analyze group collective efforts thanks to a smart board. Another trend affecting student-teacher communication is the rise of video-based learning. According to a 2020 survey, 98% of US students will use video-based learning in school. Nearly all schools use video-based learning to support curriculum.

Augmented and virtual reality technologies are already changing the classroom experience. Augmented reality, which uses augmented reality to enhance real-life experiences, will soon replace traditional methods. For example, students will be able to view 3D versions of images and explore microscopic organisms. Virtual reality, on the other hand, will allow students to take virtual field trips to places like Antarctica. This technology will be available on mobile devices and on virtual reality headsets.

Gamification: Adding gamification to learning environments will boost student engagement. Gamification can help educators identify blocks in learning and develop teaching patterns. This is a new trend in educational technology that is increasing its use in primary education. Gamification will help students learn valuable information through the application of gaming mechanics. With gamification, learning will become a fun activity rather than a chore. Using AR and VR to teach complex subjects is also an innovative way to engage students.

A more engaging classroom experience: New classroom technology can help educators adjust lesson plans to suit the needs of individual students. It will also help teachers to monitor the skills of students and gauge their capabilities.
